Recently we had to organise a power of attorney for a client in Malaysia, which is not part of the La Hague convention for recognition of foriegn public documents. The idea was using the Spanish Embassy, but given that the ambassador would not be there for 3 weeks, we used a local notary. In this case, his signature must be authenticated by the relevant Foreign Affairs department and this new signature also needs to be counter-signed by the Spanish Embassy. A real adventure!
